For Baba: Oga Obinna goes bald in honour of Raila Odinga

Comedian Oga Obinna has left fans talking after shaving his head clean in honour of the late Raila Odinga, a gesture deeply rooted in Luo culture.

As is tradition among many Kenyan communities, family members and close associates of the deceased often shave their heads as a sign of mourning and respect.

Borrowing from the same cultural script, Obinna on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, visited a barbershop and emerged with a fresh bald look, a total contrast from his usual trendy hairstyle.

Taking to his social media pages, the father of five shared a video of himself getting the new look, captioning it simply.

“For Baba.”

The move quickly stirred mixed reactions online.

While some netizens accused him of “simping” too much for the Odinga family, others praised him for boldly expressing loyalty and love for the late opposition chief.

“You’ve done well bro. That’s true loyalty,” one fan commented.

“Hii ni clout chasing ya mourning,” another critic wrote.

Obinna For Owino

Obinna’s symbolic act comes barely four days after he publicly urged the ODM party to appoint Babu Owino as Raila Odinga’s successor.

According to the comedian, if ODM truly wants to remain strong and relevant, Babu Owino should be given both the party leadership and the ODM ticket for the 2027 Nairobi gubernatorial race.

In a passionate video shared on Instagram, Obinna warned that denying Babu the ticket would be a “monumental mistake”, arguing that such a move would alienate the Gen Z base, which he believes strongly identifies with the youthful MP.

“ODM has many great leaders,” Obinna noted

“But Babu Owino has both the favour of the people and the anointing. Those are rare qualities that keep a movement alive,” he added.

Whether fans view his bald gesture as pure respect or attention-seeking, one thing remains clear, Oga Obinna never misses a chance to make a bold statement, especially when it comes to Baba.
