Maurice Ogeta, who previously served as a bodyguard to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has been appointed Advisor for Security Affairs in the Mombasa County Government.
The appointment was announced on Thursday by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir following the creation of the advisory positions by the Mombasa County Public Service Board.
According to Governor Nassir, Ogeta’s appointment is based on his vast experience and expertise acquired at local, regional, and international levels, including his service to the late ODM party leader.

“The appointment is informed by his extensive experience and expertise gained at local, regional and global levels, including his service to the late Founding Party Leader, H. E. Raila Odinga, C.G.H,” Nassir said.
In the same announcement, the governor also appointed Ken Ambani as Advisor on Creative Arts.
Nassir noted that Ambani will play a key role in revitalizing and strengthening the creative arts sector in Mombasa by supporting talent development and expanding economic opportunities for artists across the county.
The appointments come shortly after celebrations marking the late Raila Odinga’s posthumous 81st birthday, which were held in Mombasa County.
The event brought together officials and members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to honor and remember the former Prime Minister.
