Four individuals have been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being convicted of beating a 19-year-old Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate to death, allegedly for stealing a mobile phone.
Julieta Ayieta, Benjamin Njenga, Paul Osinde, and Gregory Mukhori were found guilty of participating in the fatal mob attack on Ahmad Mohammed Ismael in Eldoret on June 2, 2023.

The assault took place in the West Indies estate, where Ismael was accused of stealing a mobile phone from a college student.
He died from severe head injuries after being struck with crude weapons and stones by the mob.
The four were sentenced at the Eldoret High Court on Wednesday, after the prosecution presented compelling evidence, including CCTV footage, witness testimonies, and forensic analysis, which confirmed their involvement in the crime.

Eldoret High Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi stated, “The CCTV footage shown in court clearly captured the accused beating the victim with stones and other blunt objects, leading to his brutal death.”
The evidence presented left no doubt about their guilt, leading to the conviction.
