Four suspected robbers were arrested after a police chase in Nairobi’s Mathare area, with officers recovering a stolen mobile phone and a homemade firearm.
According to police, the incident occurred on Monday, July 20, 2026, at about 5:40 p.m. along Juja Road in the Amana area.
The victim was walking towards 3rd Street from Ushirika when he was confronted by four men, one of whom was armed with a gun.
The armed suspect allegedly struck him on the head before the gang stole his Samsung A05 mobile phone valued at Sh14,000 and fled towards the Mathare River.
The victim immediately alerted police officers who were on patrol along Juja Road. The officers pursued the suspects on foot and intercepted them at the Gaza area along the Mathare River, where all four were arrested.
A search on the suspects led to the recovery of the stolen Samsung A05 phone as well as a homemade gun believed to have been used during the robbery.
The suspects were escorted to Pangani Police Station, where they were booked into custody pending their arraignment in court.
Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
