There was tragedy in a village when a girl aged 18 drowned in a pit latrine that collapsed as she was in it in Chasimba, Kilifi County.
The victim was a student at St Teresa Day Secondary School, police said adding the incident happened Saturday morning at their home.
She had gone to the pit latrine for a call of nature when it suddenly collapsed and trapped her.
Her body was later retrieved and moved to the mortuary for other procedures, police said.
