Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has announced a major healthcare boost for Likoni residents, revealing a sh 50 million investment supported by the Safaricom Foundation for the construction of a state-of-the-art maternity facility at Likoni Hospital.
Speaking after a working visit to the hospital, Governor Nassir said he had the opportunity to interact directly with staff and patients, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges faced by the community.

“I had the privilege of working from Likoni Hospital, engaging directly with our dedicated staff and listening to patients about the challenges they face.
I am proud to confirm that, with the support of the Safaricom Foundation, we are investing sh 50 million to deliver a state-of-the-art maternity facility that will transform maternal care in Likoni,” he said.
The Governor also confirmed that plans are underway to allocate additional funding in the 2025/2026 county budget for a comprehensive upgrade of the hospital’s infrastructure.
This move aims to ensure the facility meets the growing healthcare demands driven by Likoni’s rapidly expanding population.
Governor Nassir was accompanied during the visit by Likoni MP Hon. Mishi Mboko and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) led by Majority Leader Athman Mwamiri.
“We continue to work together to deliver on the health needs of our people,” he added, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services across Mombasa County.
