TikTok has quickly become one of the most popular social media platforms, attracting millions of users from all over the world. While the app is designed for sharing creative content and connecting with people, there may come a time when you want to remove a follower from your account. Whether it’s for privacy, safety, or personal reasons, TikTok allows you to easily remove unwanted followers without them knowing.
On TikTok, when someone follows you, they can see your public videos and interact with your content. If your account is public, anyone can follow you. However, if you prefer to have control over who views your posts, you can switch to a private account. This allows you to manually approve or deny followers.
Removing a follower can help you maintain a more positive and safe environment on your page, especially if you are concerned about harassment, spam, or simply want to share your content with a smaller audience.
How to Remove a Follower on TikTok
TikTok has made it simple to remove followers directly from your profile. Follow these steps:
- Open the TikTok app on your device and log into your account if you haven’t already.
- Go to your profile by tapping the Profile icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Tap “Followers.” This will show you a list of everyone who follows your account.
- Find the follower you want to remove. Scroll through the list or use the search bar to locate the username.
- Tap the three dots (•••) or hold down on their name to open more options.
- Select “Remove this follower.” TikTok will confirm that the person has been removed.
Once you remove a follower, they will no longer see your private content (if your account is private). They won’t receive any notification that you removed them.
How to Block a Follower Completely
If you want to take things further, you can block the user. Blocking prevents them from viewing your profile, videos, or interacting with your account in any way. To block someone:
- Go to their profile.
- Tap the three dots at the top-right corner.
- Select “Block.”
- Confirm your choice.
This ensures they can’t find your account or send you messages.
Switching to a Private Account
If you want more control over your followers, consider switching your account to private:
- Go to your profile and tap the three-line menu at the top-right.
- Choose Settings and Privacy.
- Tap Privacy.
- Toggle on Private Account.
With this setting enabled, you’ll have to approve all new followers manually.
