TikTok has become one of the most popular social media platforms, allowing users to create, share, and save videos. While saving videos is a great way to revisit entertaining or educational content later, there are times when you may want to clear out your saved videos. This could be to free up space, maintain privacy, or simply organize your TikTok library. Understanding how to delete saved videos on TikTok is essential for better account management and ensuring that your profile only reflects what you truly want to keep.
When you save a video on TikTok, it can mean two things depending on how you interacted with the content. You may have saved someone else’s video to your “Favorites,” or you may have saved your own uploaded video to your profile or drafts. Each of these has a slightly different process when it comes to deletion.
Deleting Your Own Uploaded Videos
If you have uploaded a video to TikTok but no longer want it visible to others, you can delete it directly from your profile. To do this, open your TikTok app, go to your profile by tapping the Me icon, and scroll through your posted videos. Select the video you want to remove, tap the three-dot menu (•••) on the right side, and choose the “Delete” option. TikTok will ask you to confirm the deletion. Once deleted, the video is permanently removed from your profile and cannot be restored.
Deleting Draft Videos
TikTok also allows you to save videos as drafts before posting them. If you decide not to publish a draft, you can delete it to free up space. To do this, go to your profile, open the Drafts folder, and select the video you no longer need. Tap “Select,” choose the unwanted drafts, and then delete them. Unlike published videos, drafts are only visible to you, so deleting them only affects your personal storage.
Deleting Saved Favorites
Sometimes, instead of saving videos as drafts or uploads, you may add them to your Favorites for quick access. To remove a video from Favorites, open your profile, tap on the bookmark icon to access saved content, and select the video. Tap the “Remove from Favorites” option, and it will no longer appear in your saved list. Keep in mind that this does not delete the video from TikTok itself; it only removes it from your collection.
Why Deleting Saved Videos Matters
Deleting saved videos is more than just about storage. For creators, it helps in managing their content strategy by keeping only videos that reflect their personal brand. For casual users, it ensures a clean feed and prevents clutter. It can also be a way to safeguard privacy by ensuring videos you no longer feel comfortable with are no longer accessible.
