How to Like a Repost on TikTok

TikTok continues to evolve as one of the most dynamic social media platforms, constantly introducing features that encourage sharing, engagement, and discovery. One of the features gaining popularity is the “Repost” button, which allows users to share another person’s video with their followers — much like retweeting on Twitter or resharing on Instagram. While reposting allows users to boost someone else’s content, others who see the repost might wonder: can you like a repost, and if so, how?

TikTok Repost Feature

The repost feature allows you to share someone’s video without having it permanently appear on your profile. Instead, your followers see the reposted content in their “For You” feed with your name and caption attached. This tool is especially useful for promoting funny clips, helpful tutorials, or viral trends, giving more visibility to original creators.

When a video is reposted, it remains linked to the original video, meaning viewers can still like, comment, and share it just as they would with any standard TikTok video.

How to Like a Reposted Video on TikTok

If you come across a reposted video while scrolling through your feed, the process to like it is exactly the same as liking any other video. Simply tap the heart icon on the right side of the screen. This action will count as a like for the original video and helps boost its reach across the platform. It’s important to note that liking a repost doesn’t just support the person who reposted it; it supports the original creator.

You can also double-tap anywhere on the video screen to like it instantly. TikTok will show a red heart animation to confirm that your like has been registered. You can unlike it by tapping the heart again if you change your mind.

Where You Can Find Reposted Videos to Like

Reposted videos will appear in your “For You” page if they’re shared by someone you follow, or if TikTok’s algorithm believes the content matches your interests. These videos may carry a note that says something like “Reposted by [Username],” helping you identify that the content was shared via repost.

You can also view reposts from someone you follow by visiting their activity feed or checking your own notifications if someone you follow has reposted something. Once you find the reposted video, you can watch and like it from there.
