How to Make Your Own TikTok Sound

TikTok has become a global platform for creativity, where original sounds can go viral just as easily as trending dances or challenges. Whether you’re a content creator, musician, comedian, or everyday user with a clever idea, creating your own TikTok sound can help you build a unique identity and reach a wider audience. From voiceovers and music to everyday moments and funny audio clips, making your own sound is simple with the right steps. Here is How to make your own TikTok sound.

Step 1: Record Your Video or Audio

The easiest way to create your own sound on TikTok is by recording a video directly in the app. Open TikTok and tap the “+” icon to start a new video. You can record yourself speaking, singing, playing an instrument, telling a joke, or even capturing interesting background noise. Anything you say or do while filming will become the original sound attached to your video after posting.

Alternatively, if you have a pre-recorded audio clip or a song you made, you can play it out loud in the background while recording the video. TikTok captures this audio, and it will be automatically saved as your original sound when you post.

Step 2: Edit Your Video Before Posting

After recording, you can add text, filters, or effects to your video to make it more appealing. However, do not add any copyrighted music from TikTok’s sound library if you want the sound to be recognized as “original.” The app will prioritize licensed music over your custom audio, meaning your voice or track won’t appear as the primary sound.

Once you’re done editing, tap “Next” and write a caption. You may include hashtags like #OriginalSound or #MySound to encourage engagement. Then hit “Post.” After your video is published, TikTok will automatically label your audio as “original sound – [your username]” and store it in your profile.

Step 3: Access and Use Your Custom Sound

To use your custom sound in future videos, tap on the original video you posted. At the bottom of the screen, click on the spinning record icon or the sound name. This opens a new page featuring your sound. Here, you can bookmark it or tap “Use this sound” to make a new video using the same audio.

You can also copy the link to share it with friends, or encourage others to try using your sound in their own content. If your sound is catchy or funny, other users may help it go viral.

Step 4: Name and Promote Your Sound

If you want your sound to stand out, consider naming it clearly. While TikTok doesn’t allow you to rename sounds directly in the app, you can set the name of the sound by naming your original video creatively. That title often gets used as the sound’s label. For example, if you post a video called “Funny Chicken Dance Sound,” that might become the searchable name of the audio.

Share your video on other social platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, or Twitter to draw attention to your unique sound. Ask followers or friends to use it in their videos. The more it’s used, the more TikTok’s algorithm will promote it on the For You Page.
