Police in Makueni County recovered human bones and clothing from a bush in Kibwezi, in a development that could help shed light on the disappearance of a 27-year-old man who went missing in June 2025.
The discovery was reported at Ulilinzi Police Post on Saturday, October 3, 2026, following an earlier recovery of a suspected human skull from the same area on September 30.
According to police, a man reported that additional human bones and clothing had been found in the bush where the skull was recovered.
The clothing led investigators and the family to suspect that the remains could belong to Erick Mweu Mutuku, who reportedly went missing in June 2025.
The recovered bones and clothing were moved to Kambu Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation and further examination.
Police are expected to conduct forensic examinations to establish the identity of the remains and determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s disappearance and death.
Elsewhere, a 36-year-old man died after drowning in River Nyando in Migere area, North East Kano Sub-County, Kisumu County.
The incident was reported at Ngere Police Post on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
According to police, they received information that Barack Otieno, had drowned in the river at about 7pm.
The incident reportedly occurred on September 2, 2026.
Barack was rescued from the river and rushed to hospital for treatment but died while being transported.
His body was subsequently moved to Othoo Funeral Home.
Officers from Ngere Police Post and DCI Muhoroni visited the morgue and conducted a preliminary physical examination. No visible physical injuries were found on the body.
The body remains at Othoo Funeral Home pending an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
