Human skeleton found hanging from tree near Sagana River Bridge, Kiringaga County


Police in Mwea West Sub-County, Kirinyaga County, are investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains found hanging from a tree near the Sagana River Bridge.

The incident was reported on Thursday after a herder spotted what appeared to be a human skeleton inside a bush and alerted the authorities.

Preliminary findings indicate that the skeletal remains were suspended from a tree branch by a rope tied around the skull, while other bones were scattered on the ground. All soft tissues had decomposed, making immediate identification impossible.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from Kerugoya County Headquarters processed, photographed and documented the scene before collecting the skeletal remains.

The remains were transferred to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where they will be preserved pending forensic examination, an autopsy and identification.

Police have launched investigations to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death, including whether it was a suspected suicide or involved foul play.Elsewhere, police in Kangema Sub-County, Murang’a County, have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of an unidentified woman along the banks of the Mathioya River.

The incident was reported on Thursday, police said.

According to the report, a witness was walking along the Mathioya River. when he came across the body of an unknown woman believed to be about 30 years old.

Crime scene personnel processed and documented the area before the body was removed to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital Mortuary for preservation, identification and a postmortem examination.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death as a suspected murder and are working to establish her identity and those responsible.

And police in Kandara, Murang’a County, are investigating the death of a 36-year-old man whose body was found lying by the roadside on Thursday morning.

The deceased, identified as Peter Maina Mwangi, was discovered approximately 100 metres from Mutitu Shopping Centre in Mutitu Village, Gakoi Sub-location.

The body was found lying on the roadside with blood clots around the mouth and nose, believed to have resulted from bleeding from those areas.

Police noted that the body had no visible physical injuries. It was moved to Gaichanjiru Mission Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
