Beartooth Frontman Caleb Shomo Comes Out as Gay After 14-Year Marriage

Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo has publicly come out as a gay man, revealing a deeply personal struggle with identity following more than a decade of marriage to his wife, Fleur Shomo.

The 33-year-old musician addressed growing public speculation about his personal life in an Instagram post on Saturday, saying he felt compelled to speak openly to protect those close to him.

“There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding my personal life as of late and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further,” he wrote. “I am a proudly gay man. This is something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now.”

Shomo said that coming to terms with his sexuality has been a long and difficult process, describing years of internal conflict and emotional suppression.

He admitted that he struggled for years, saying he “spent a decade burying feelings with alcohol,” before choosing sobriety and beginning to confront his identity more honestly. According to Shomo, that turning point marked the beginning of a process of self-reflection that ultimately led him to understand and accept his sexuality.

The musician also suggested that his upcoming work with Beartooth will reflect this personal transformation. He said he intends to be fully transparent in his music and artistic expression moving forward.

“I will only do what makes me happy at the deepest level and what is the most honest depiction of who I am,” he wrote, adding that he hopes embracing his truth will help him achieve self-acceptance.

Shomo encouraged others facing similar struggles to be patient with themselves and to confront difficult emotions rather than suppress them.

His wife, Fleur Shomo, also responded publicly, acknowledging that the situation has been emotionally difficult for both of them.
