Health Tech entrepreneur James Opande has issued a public apology to Kenyans following a stormy backlash sparked by the circulation of controversial videos on social media, admitting that his actions were wrong and calling for calm, dialogue, and reconciliation.
In a press statement released after days of intense public scrutiny, Opande said he took time to reflect on the unfolding events and acknowledged that mistakes were made.
He admitted that both he and his sister, Marion Naipei, played a role in the incident, but emphasised that he was taking full responsibility for his actions.

Opande maintained that he was not shifting blame to anyone else, stating that he owned his mistakes and was prepared to face the consequences.
He also expressed gratitude to his sister Marion for coming forward to issue a public apology and for apologising on behalf of Geoffrey Mosiria.
The entrepreneur extended a heartfelt apology to Kenyans and singled out Mosiria, noting that he had attempted to resolve the matter privately and away from social media attention.
Opande admitted that he had been rude to Mosiria and expressed regret over his conduct.
In his statement, Opande defended Mosiria, saying he was right to stand up for Marion, stressing that the sharing of explicit content online is illegal.
While conceding that both parties may have acted wrongly from a moral standpoint, he underscored that posting nudity online goes against the law.
Opande made an emotional appeal to the public for forgiveness, expressing fear that the incident could cost him his job and jeopardize his US visa.

He acknowledged that he has a family and admitted that the controversy had brought shame to them.
He further revealed that he had instructed his lawyer to reach out to Marion to explore ways of resolving the matter amicably and outside the courts. In a conciliatory tone, Opande appealed to Mosiria to consider stopping the escalation of the case and allow room for dialogue and reconciliation.
He concluded by urging Kenyans to forgive Mosiria, stating that he was only doing his job and standing with the law, as calls for accountability and responsible use of social media continue to dominate public discourse.
