1953 was the start of his radio career, at 3BO radio station in Bendigo, Victoria. Afterwards, he worked for several radio stations then joined 2UE radio station and became among the first rock ‘n’ roll music disc jockeys.
After leaving 2UE in 1959, the radio presenter managed a farm in Hunter Valley. He later came back to work with 2GB radio station for two years in 1962 then went back to 2UE in 1964.
Later on, he signed with 2UW radio station. After the 2UW contract, the radio presenter went back to 2UE in 1079 and stayed for five years. Again he moved to 2GB but later returned to 2UE again. John Laws’ return to 2UE made the radio station number one in Sydney for years.
