Murega Baichu, the husband of former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, has turned to music to welcome Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ahead of the highly anticipated Linda Mwananchi tour of Meru County.

The musical endorsement comes at a politically significant moment as the Linda Mwananchi movement prepares to take its mobilisation activities to Meru on August 30, 2026.
Kenyan media had earlier reported that Sifuna is expected to lead the Linda Mwananchi team during the Meru tour following the movement’s activities in other parts of the country, including Homa Bay.
New song released as Meru tour approaches
Baichu’s musical campaign has not been limited to the original “Sifuna” song.
His music catalogue also shows a recent release titled “KARIBU MERU SIFUNA,” released on August 21, 2026, further underlining the connection between his music and the senator’s upcoming visit.

Mwangaza has publicly welcomed the Linda Mwananchi team to Meru and called on residents to ensure the visit remains peaceful.
“We warmly welcome the Linda Mwananchi team led by Sifuna to Meru,”Mwangaza said, describing Meru residents as peaceful and welcoming.
She added that she expected the visit to be successful and fruitful.
Her remarks have added political weight to the reception being prepared for the movement, particularly because Sifuna’s tour comes as Kenya’s political landscape gradually begins to take shape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
