Khalif Kairo mauled online after his old tweet ridiculing orphan emerged

City businessman and social media personality Khalif Kairo has found himself at the center of online criticism after an old tweet resurfaced, sparking outrage among netizens.

The controversial tweet, which dates back to 2023, recently re-emerged on social media, with many users accusing Kairo of making insensitive remarks about another person’s family tragedy.

According to screenshots circulating online, the post was made during a heated exchange between Kairo and a tweep identified as Asamoah.

In the earlier conversation, Asamoah had challenged the businessman to reconcile with his father, writing:

“Now take dad and reconcile with him, he will love you forever.”

However, in a quick rejoinder, Kairo fired back with a remark that many have since described as harsh and insensitive.

“At least he is not dead like your mother.”

The response appeared to mock the man for being an orphan, a move that has now drawn sharp condemnation from many social media users.

Old Tweet Resurfaces after Mother’s Death

The resurfacing of the tweet has stirred even stronger reactions because it emerged not long after Kairo himself lost his mother in February.

Kairo announced the death of his mother, Wambui, on February 15, 2026, revealing that she had passed away after a long and brave battle with illness while receiving treatment abroad.

In an emotional tribute shared on social media at the time, Kairo described his late mother as a strong woman who fought her illness courageously and thanked God for the time they had together.

Her death prompted an outpouring of condolences from Kenyans online, many of whom encouraged him to stay strong during the difficult period.

However, the rediscovered tweet has now triggered a wave of backlash, with critics pointing out the irony of the situation.

Netizens Condemn the Remarks

Following the circulation of the old tweet, many social media users criticized Kairo for what they termed as a cruel comment.

Some netizens argued that mocking someone for losing a parent is deeply insensitive, while others noted that situations can change quickly in life.

Several users also reminded Kairo that no one should take advantage of another person’s painful circumstances, warning that such remarks can eventually come back to haunt someone.

Others said the incident should serve as a lesson about the power of words on social media, especially when public figures are involved.
