Africa’s King of Rap, Brian Omollo, known to many as Khaligraph Jones has opened up about the many tribulations local and even international stars are going through.
The hip hop star, famed for his Mazishi hit song recently revealed how many stars are dealing with serious debts despite having signed lucrative deals with major record labels.
Taking to his Insta-stories updates section on Thursday, July 3, the heavy hitter stated that most of his colleagues are suffering after signing bogus record deals which have left them buried in unimaginable debts.
According to Khaligraph Jones, he is lucky to be debt-free after turning down various deals that could have buried him in debt instead of catapulting him to the next level.
He shared about how he chose to eat life with a big spoon with the little he has instead of receiving financial advances from record labels, which could be detrimental to his music career and career as a whole.
Khali added that he only prays that God grants him a Rolls Royce and a Maybach to compliment his rich taste of a lifestyle.
“I know a lot big artists in serious debt. Lord knows how many deals I have turned down in my career. I may not have much but at least I don’t owe anybody anything. I am just balling in peace with what is mine. Now, God bless me with a Rolls Royce or Maybach angalau.” Khaligraph Jones wrote on Instagram.
His revelation did not come quite as a surprise to many since many celebrities have in the past cried foul following botched deals with different labels.
From big time music stars to upcoming musician, a number has come out to claim most record labels usually take advantage of their signees, sending them to poverty and subsequent premature deaths.
Many stories have been told of record labels advancing musician with tonnes of cash, only for them to recoup everything upon their subject’s peak seasons.
It should be noted that Khaligraph Jones is among the few Kenyan music stars with substantial wealth to show from their music careers.
Not long ago, Khaligraph Jones made regional headlines after unveiling his multi-million mansion.
The rapper disclosed that he built the mansion with proceeds from music alone.
