The family of one-year-three-month-old Mohamed Abdi from Kiamaiko, Nairobi, is appealing to members of the public to help locate their missing child, who was allegedly abducted on Sunday by an unidentified woman.
According to the family, the suspect reportedly lured Mohamed’s elder sister by giving her sh. 20 to buy a sweet from a nearby shop.
While the girl was away, the woman is said to have taken the opportunity to disappear with the toddler.
Three days after the incident, the distraught family continues to search desperately for their son and is urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact them directly.
Family members expressed deep concern, revealing that another child from their extended family was abducted last year and has never been found.
They are calling on the Kenya Police Service to speed up investigations and bring those responsible to justice.
In their emotional appeal, the family also urged the government to review and strengthen child adoption laws, alleging that some individuals exploit legal loopholes to engage in illegal child trafficking under the guise of adoption.
They further encouraged landlords and property owners to install CCTV cameras in residential areas to enhance security and help deter such crimes.
The incident comes at a time when schools remain closed for the long holidays, a period during which authorities have repeatedly warned parents to be extra vigilant due to a surge in child abductions and human trafficking cases across the country.
