Ludacris began his career in Atlanta as a radio intern and DJ at Hot 97.5 where he connected with producer Timbaland. Their connection led to him appearing on the track “Phat Rabbit”. 

He launched his music career with the independent album Incognegro in 1999. Later on Def Jam South repackaged it as his major-label debut Back for the First Time in 2000. The album reached number four on the Billboard 200 chart. It featured the hit singles “What’s Your Fantasy” which was number 21 on the Hot 100 chart and “Southern Hospitality” at number 23.

His second album, Word of Mouf released in 2001, included “Rollout (My Business)” which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Male Rap Solo Performance. It had other Hot 100 hits like “Saturday (Oooh! Ooooh!)” and “Move Bitch”. During this period, he also appeared on successful collaborations, including Jermaine Dupri’s “Welcome to Atlanta”  and Missy Elliott’s “Gossip Folks”.

In 2008, he released Theater of the Mind, which came at number five on the Billboard 200 chart. He featured artists like T.I., Jay-Z and Nas with hit singles “What Them Girls Like” and “One More Drink”.

His eighth studio album, Battle of the Sexes topped at number one and was certified Gold. Hit singles included “How Low” and “My Chick Bad”.

Ludacris also featured on Justin Bieber’s record-breaking single “Baby” which became one of the highest-certified songs in the U.S.

In 2013, he released the mixtape #IDGAF. Two years later, he released Ludaversal which topped at number three on the Billboard 200 chart. It also featured collaborations with Usher, Big K.R.I.T. and Ne-Yo. 

Later on, he released the single “Butter.ATL” in 2021. He has also taken on voice roles in “Lil’ Pimp”, “Turkey Hollow” and “Show Dogs”.
