Man dies after falling from second floor of apartment in Mtwapa, Kilifi


A 25-year-old man has died after sustaining serious injuries in a fall from the second floor of an apartment in Mtwapa, Kilifi County.

The deceased, identified as Hillary Misati, reportedly fell from the second floor of Madoko Apartment in the Seven Dreams area of Mtwapa Township on September 8, 2026, at about 5am.

Misati sustained multiple injuries to his legs and head following the incident.

He was rushed to Mtwapa Sub-County Hospital, where he received treatment before being referred to Kilifi County Referral Hospital for specialised care.

The incident was reported to Mtwapa Police Station by a woman who identified herself as the deceased’s girlfriend.

She reportedly visited Misati at the referral facility and was informed that he had succumbed to his injuries at an unknown time the previous night.

Police visited the scene. The scene was documented and secured pending further processing by the Scenes of Crime team.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall and the subsequent death.

And the decomposing body of a 75-year-old woman who had been reported missing by her family was found near Poromoko Comprehensive School in Lamu West, Lamu County.

The body of Elizabeth Mandu Mutua Kamba was discovered on Friday, September 11, 2026, at about 7am in the Poromoko area within Mkunumbi Ward.

The discovery was reported to Pangani Police Station at about 1pm by a resident of Poromoko Village and the deceased’s son.

Police officers from Pangani Police Station and DCI Lamu West visited the scene, where they found the woman’s decomposing body. Photographs were taken as part of the evidence-gathering process.

Preliminary inquiries established that the deceased had been living with her son, identified as Mutinda Mutua. She reportedly went missing on September 6, but the disappearance had not been reported to police.

The body was retrieved and moved to Malindi Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death.
