Man dies in hospital after assault by his brother in Shinyalu, Kakamega County


A 27-year-old man died in hospital after he had been assaulted by his brother in a domestic fight in Shinyalu, Kakamega County.

Police said Silas Abungana died on February 5 two days after his assault in the Masakiali village. The two had argued before it went physical.

Police visited the deceased man’s home and recovered what they termed as the killer weapon.

The assailant escaped the scene on learning his brother had succumbed to the injuries as police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police said on Friday they were pursuing the suspect for grilling over the murder.

Elsewhere in Kapsoya, Uasin Gishu County, one Faith Cheserek was found unresponsive on the roadside after a suspected assault.

The woman was picked up and taken to a house where she died. Police said they are investigating the death and they are yet to know the motive of the same.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Elsewhere in Tanaka, Busia County, a one year and ten months old boy drowned in a borehole in their home.

Police said the borehole was about 20 feet deep when the boy slipped and drowned there. Locals retrieved the body as police arrived and moved it to the mortuary. Police said they were investigating the tragedy.
