A 25-year-old man died after being assaulted in an altercation in a bar in Ntimaru, Migori County.
The victim was identified as David Marwa. He had been to a bar in the area when a brawl broke out between him and persons known to him on December 14.
He disclosed the names of the people who assaulted him before he died, police said.
It was then that he was assaulted and left with serious head injuries.
He went to his home in the area and sought help from his parents who took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.
The assailants had escaped the scene and efforts to trace them were ongoing on Monday, police said.
Elsewhere in Gathoge, Kirinyaga County, a woman was murdered and her body abandoned in Njukini forest in Mbiri area.
The woman was identified as Margaret Wanduma, 72.
Her half naked body was found in the area Sunday a day after she went missing.
A suspect was arrested over the murder. Police said they are investigating if the woman was assaulted.
The suspect in custody was last seen with the woman in the area, witnesses and police said.
The woman had an injury on the forehead and the body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.
In Kangema, Muranga County, suspected thugs raided Marimera coffee factory and stole 480 kilos of P1 parchment coffee.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
In Ngara, Nairobi, a caretaker of an apartment was seriously injured by a live wire on top of a tank he was cleaning.
The 74-year-old man was admitted in hospital after the Sunday incident, police said adding the cables were lying low near the tank when he touched them.
