Man fatally clobbered by his brother using hammer in dispute in Msambweni, Kwale County


A 30-year-old man was fatally clobbered by his brother using a hammer in a dispute in Msambweni, Kwale County. Police said Ali Omar died in hospital after the attack on April 30, 2026.

The two brothers had quarreled over a domestic issue before one of them attacked the other. The brother also used a panga to slash Omar in the head, police said. They moved the body to the mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.

Police said the body had injuries in the head and shoulder.

The suspect escaped the scene after the attack but efforts to arrest him were ongoing on Friday, police said.

In Muthara, Meru County, one Martin Mwenda was assaulted in an altercation and succumbed to the injuries in hospital.

Police said on Friday a suspect in the murder was on the run but efforts to get him were ongoing. Police linked the fatal assault to a land dispute adding the assailant was his father.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Most murder cases reported have been linked to land disputes and deals gone wrong, police said.

In Madianyi, Rarieda, Siaya County, the body of one Eric Ouma, 38 was found floating on river Mawira. The decomposed body was discovered by a herder in the area.

The Police were called to the scene and moved the body to the mortuary pending other procedures.

In Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, a body of a man was found in River Riana, after a case of drowning was reported. The body had been swept to the area on April 30, 2026 and later moved to the mortuary.

Meanwhile, 11 people died in separate road accidents in the country on Thursday night. Police said of the victims, five were riders, three pillion passengers, two pedestrians and a driver. The accidents also left 19 people with injuries.

The Police are investigating the incidents.
