A 41-year-old man was found dead with deep cuts to his head and a stab wound in Kathaka area, Kirinyaga West Sub-County.
The body of Fredrick Kariuki Mwangi was discovered on Monday, September 21, 2026, lying unresponsive near Ambassador Hotel.
Police officers responded to the scene after receiving reports from members of the public.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Mwangi had been seen at Kathaka Market Centre on Sunday night before he was later found dead.
Police said the deceased had sustained several deep cuts to the head and forehead, as well as a stab wound, suggesting that he had been violently attacked.
Scenes of Crime officers processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Kerugoya Level Five Hospital mortuary.
A postmortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause of death as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
Meanwhile, a 38-year-old man has died after reportedly slipping and hitting his head against a wall at his home in the Dagoretti Corner area of Nairobi.
Police said John Musa Basi was said to have fallen at around 8pm on Sunday, September 20, 2026, while inside the house he shared with his mother.
According to police, Basi developed dizziness, vertigo and a headache after the fall but was able to get up and later went to sleep.
His condition reportedly worsened at around 4am on Monday, prompting neighbours to assist in taking him to Coptic Hospital for emergency treatment.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at approximately 6:40am.
Police officers from Kilimani Police Station visited the hospital and confirmed the death.
Basi’s body was moved to the Coptic Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
