Police in Lungalunga Sub-County, Kwale County, are investigating the brutal murder of a 27-year-old man who was attacked and killed at his home by unknown assailants.
The incident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on June 1.
The deceased was positively identified as John Tsimba Hassan, a 27-year-old resident of the area.
Investigators established that he had been alone in his house when unknown attackers allegedly stormed the premises, dragged him outside, and subjected him to a vicious assault.
Police observed multiple deep cut wounds on the body, believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object, suspected to be a panga. The injuries were concentrated on the head, neck, back, hands, and shoulder areas, indicating a sustained and violent attack.
The scene was photographed and processed by investigators before the body was transferred to the mortuary at Lungalunga Sub-County Hospital pending a post-mortem examination.
Authorities said the motive behind the killing had not been immediately established. Detectives have launched investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible for the murder. No arrests had been reported at the time of the initial report.
Elsewhere, police in Cheptais Sub-County, Bungoma County, have launched investigations following the discovery of the body of a 28-year-old man in a river under circumstances pointing to a violent murder.
Relatives of the deceased were informed by a passer-by that their nephew, Isaac Chepkirenja Chebus, had been found dead in Kiptaiwa River in Nga’imas Village, Chemondi Sublocation on Monday.
Preliminary examination of the body revealed a deep open cut wound on the left side of the neck and a stab wound on the back. Investigators believe the injuries were inflicted using a sharp object before the body was dumped in the river.
The scene was processed and documented by police as detectives commenced investigations into the killing.
The body was removed and transferred to the mortuary at Bungoma County Referral Hospital, where it will be preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
Police are pursuing leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and identify those responsible for the killing. No arrests had been reported at the time of the initial report.
