Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a strong statement affirming the government’s commitment to dealing firmly with criminal elements across the country without favoritism or tribal bias.
Speaking during a national security briefing, Murkomen emphasized that the protection of lives and property for all Kenyans remains the top priority of his ministry.
He firmly dismissed any attempts to shield criminals based on ethnic or regional affiliations.
“We will deal with all the criminals and protect properties of all Kenyans regardless of their tribe,” Murkomen stated.
“We will protect the property of every Kenyan, regardless of where that Kenyan comes from.”
Referencing recent incidents of property destruction during unrest in different parts of the country including Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Olkalau, Nyahururu, and Nairobi Murkomen stressed that all affected communities will be treated equally and that perpetrators will be held accountable.
“The businesses that were burned in Kirinyaga, the businesses that were burned in Nyeri we will treat equally like the businesses that were burned in Nairobi.
The thugs that burned businesses in any part of the country will be dealt with squarely, just like those in Kitengela, Ngong everywhere,” he declared.
Murkomen went further to criticize attempts by some individuals to inject tribal narratives into law enforcement matters, reiterating that criminality has no ethnicity and that justice will be applied equally.
“There is no tribe, there is no tribe, there is no tribe that will be forgiven because of their generation or identity. We will deal with all criminals because they are criminals,” he said emphatically.
“No tribalism will protect them.”
In a direct message to President William Ruto, Murkomen expressed unwavering loyalty and determination to fulfill the mandate entrusted to his office.
“We are not going to play with the job you gave us. This is a job that protects the lives of the people of Kenya,” he said.
“Whereas others can pontificate out there and give us stories, here in this ministry, under your guidance, we will make sure that Kenyans are safe and their properties are safe because that is the responsibility the people of Kenya gave us.”
The Cabinet Secretary’s remarks come amid heightened concerns over recent unrest and destruction of property during demonstrations and politically charged gatherings across several counties.
Murkomen concluded by affirming that law enforcement agencies are under strict instructions to arrest all those responsible for inciting violence or engaging in acts of destruction, and that they will face the full force of the law.
Further updates from the Ministry of Interior and the National Police Service are expected in the coming days as investigations continue and arrests are made.
