Kenyan songstress Nadia Mukami has opened up about the powerful influence her mother has had on her life, revealing a deeply personal family sacrifice that continues to shape her journey into motherhood.
Speaking candidly in a recent interview, the Radio Love hitmaker shared that her mother once made the bold decision to walk away from a career in the military to focus entirely on raising her children.
According to Nadia, that sacrifice did not go unnoticed, and it is something she now understands more clearly as she embraces motherhood herself.

“My mum once abandoned her military career to raise us,” she revealed, highlighting the weight of that decision and the love behind it.
Sacrifice That Shaped Her Outlook
Nadia explained that growing up, she may not have fully grasped the magnitude of her mother’s choice, but becoming a parent has given her a new perspective.
She noted that motherhood is far from easy, describing it as a demanding, full-time responsibility that requires resilience, patience, and constant sacrifice.
“Motherhood is a full-time job,” she admitted, adding that the experience has opened her eyes to what her own mother went through.
The singer emphasised that her mother’s decision laid the foundation for who she is today, both as a person and as a parent.
Balancing Music And Motherhood
Now a mother herself, Nadia continues to juggle her thriving music career with parenting, a balance she says comes with its own challenges.
She has previously spoken about the pressures female artists face after childbirth, especially in an industry that demands constant visibility and performance.
“It’s even harder when you have given birth and you are a female artist… I alone understand what I have been going through,” she once shared.
Despite the challenges, Nadia says she draws strength from her mother’s example, using it as motivation to push through tough moments.

Honouring Her Mother’s Legacy
The Afro-pop star, who rose to fame with hits like Si Rahisi and Radio Love, says her mother remains one of her biggest inspirations.
She often expresses gratitude for the sacrifices made, acknowledging that her success is partly rooted in the strong foundation her mother built.
In reflecting on her journey, Nadia’s message is clear: motherhood is not just about raising children, it’s about sacrifice, resilience, and unconditional love.
And for her, that lesson began at home.
