Nairobi Water Company names Martin Nangole as Acting MD

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has appointed Martin Nangole as its Acting Managing Director, following the retirement of Eng. Nahashon Muguna upon attaining the mandatory retirement age.

The appointment follows a High Court ruling delivered on May 2, 2025, which barred the extension of Eng. Muguna’s tenure beyond December 2025.

The court held that retaining him past the retirement age would contravene the law, further noting that there was no evidence he possessed unique or scarce skills that would justify an extension.

In line with the ruling, the NCWSC board designated Mr. Nangole to steer the utility in an acting capacity as the succession process gets underway.

“Following the resolution passed by  the Board of Directors today 26 September 2025, we are pleased to formally appoint you as the Acting Managing Director of  Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company Limited, effective from 26 September 2025,” Board Chair Arnold Karanja stated in a letter dated September 26, 2025.
