Nathan Hindmarsh began his rugby league career with the Robertson junior club competing in Group 6 of the Country Rugby League. His talent quickly drew attention, leading him to Patrician Brothers’ College, Fairfield: one of Australia’s foremost rugby league schools. He went on to represent the Parramatta Eels in the National Rugby League.
In 1998, he earned Parramatta’s Rookie of the Year award and assisted the team to a preliminary final in his debut season.
From 2004 to 2007, he was widely regarded as the best second-rower in the NRL and an automatic selection for both New South Wales and Australia. He played a key role in the Kangaroos’ dominant 44–4 Tri-Nations final victory in 2004 and scored a try in the 2007 ANZAC Test.
Most importantly, he set a world record with 75 tackles in a single match in 2007 and was the first player to surpass 10,000 tackles in the NRL.
