Kenyan political activist and outspoken online personality Nuru Okanga has sparked heated reactions online after revealing that he was recently involved in a serious road accident at an undisclosed location.
Okanga took to social media to assure his followers that he had survived the terrifying incident unharmed.

However, instead of beginning his message by thanking God for sparing his life, the controversial figure surprised many by first expressing gratitude to his mechanic, identified as Mr Makokha.
In the emotional post that quickly went viral, Okanga wrote:
“My car was involved in a serious accident but I am safe. I will come back with more information but for now, I want to thank my mechanic Mr Makokha, who has decided to stand with me. Those willing to support can send him something small, ‘Weka ya chai’. As for me, I am safe and sound.”
The statement immediately triggered mixed reactions across social media platforms, with many Kenyans questioning why the activist chose to appreciate his mechanic before acknowledging God for protecting his life during the frightening ordeal.
A section of netizens argued that survival after a serious accident is something that should first be attributed to divine intervention rather than human effort.
Others jokingly claimed that Okanga had “promoted” his mechanic to a higher level after seemingly crediting him before the Creator.
On Facebook and X, users flooded comment sections with criticism and memes, with some accusing Okanga of misplaced priorities.
“Brother, you survived death and the first person you thank is the mechanic?” one user commented.
Another wrote:
“Mechanic Makokha must be very powerful because even God was skipped in the thanksgiving list.”
Despite the criticism, some of his supporters defended him, arguing that the mechanic may have played a significant role in ensuring the vehicle was in good condition before the accident, possibly helping save lives during the crash.
Others noted that people react differently after traumatic experiences and that Okanga was simply expressing appreciation to someone he felt stood by him during the difficult moment.
The incident has once again placed Okanga at the center of online conversation, something that has become common due to his bold statements and unconventional social media presence.

Known for his passionate political commentary and dramatic online appearances, Okanga frequently trends over remarks that divide public opinion.
While details surrounding the accident remain unclear, including the exact location and the extent of damage to the vehicle, many Kenyans have continued to send messages wishing him a quick recovery from the traumatic experience.
As online debate continues, one thing is certain, Mr Makokha has unexpectedly become one of the most talked-about mechanics in the country after Okanga’s viral post.
