The Office of ODM Party Leader Dr Oburu Oginga has dismissed reports circulating on social media regarding his health, describing them as false and malicious.
In an official communiqué issued by the Dr Oburu Oginga Secretariat on Tuesday, the office said the veteran politician was “well, safe, and in good spirits.”
The statement said Oburu was, at the time the reports were circulating, preparing his official speech for the handover ceremony of the Raila Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’o ka Jaramogi.
The secretariat said Oburu was continuing to observe his doctors’ directives to take rest and limit heavy physical engagements.
Despite the restrictions, the office said he remained updated and engaged in party and national matters.
The statement specifically condemned social media posts attributed to Maverick Aoko concerning Oburu’s wellbeing, accusing her of spreading unverified information.
It urged members of the public and the media to rely on official communication channels for information concerning the ODM leader’s health.
The secretariat further said it was in communication with the party leadership over the matter and that legal action was being considered.
“Cyber bullying and the deliberate spread of misinformation targeted at its leadership” should cease, the statement said.
The communiqué was issued by the Dr Oburu Oginga Secretariat, Office of the Party Leader.
