Political commentator and Bunge la Mwananchi activist Omosh One Hour has put ODM officials under pressure, demanding that party leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga be publicly seen within two days.
Omosh issued the demand in a video shared by Bunge la Mwananchi on Tuesday, October 6, as questions about Oburu’s health and whereabouts continued to dominate public discussion.
The outspoken activist questioned why the veteran politician had remained largely away from public engagements despite repeated assurances from ODM officials and members of his family that he was recovering.
“ODM people and officials, please produce Oburu Oginga. We want to see him,” Omosh said in the video.
He subsequently gave the party a two-day deadline, warning that he would take his concerns to the streets if Oburu was not publicly presented.
“I have given you two days,” he said, adding that failure to produce the ODM leader would lead to protests.
Omosh’s demand comes amid Oburu health rumours
The remarks came hours after social media was flooded with claims that Oburu had died.
The reports were dismissed by the ODM leadership, Oburu’s family and people who said they had recently interacted with him.
In an official statement, Oburu’s office said the ODM leader was “well, safe, and in good spirits” and described the death reports as malicious and unfounded.
The office explained that Oburu was following doctors’ instructions to rest and limit strenuous physical activities while continuing to follow political and national developments.
Various Kenyan media outlets earlier reported that Oburu himself dismissed the rumours and maintained that he remained in good spirits.
Homa Bay Governor and ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga also sought to calm the situation after visiting Oburu. She said the veteran politician was recovering steadily and was in high spirits.
Omosh’s social media-style message
Omosh’s latest remarks fit into a pattern of his outspoken political commentary, particularly on matters concerning ODM and the legacy of the late Raila Odinga.
His message to ODM officials was straightforward: explain Oburu’s continued absence and allow the public to see him.
His viral video has since generated fresh debate online, with some Kenyans arguing that the repeated assurances from ODM should be enough, while others say a public appearance would quickly put the speculation to rest.
Oburu’s absence has attracted political attention
The controversy comes at a politically sensitive period for ODM.
Oburu took over as the party’s leader following the death of his younger brother, Raila Odinga, and has remained an important figure in the party’s transition.
ODM’s official leadership page currently lists
Oburu as the party leader and Siaya senator.
However, his reduced public presence has triggered discussion about the future direction of the party, particularly as politicians begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Several media houses recently reported that senior figures including Wycliffe Oparanya, Gladys Wanga and Simba Arati have become increasingly visible in ODM affairs during Oburu’s prolonged absence.
Oburu’s most recent major political engagements included the August 2026 UDA-ODM retreat in Naivasha.
Reports indicate that he later took time away from active politics following medical advice.

Previous rumours about Oburu
The latest controversy is not the first time false claims about Oburu’s health have circulated online.
Earlier in September, fact-checkers debunked claims that the veteran politician had died, noting that he had travelled to the United Kingdom for a medical check-up after earlier receiving treatment in Kenya.
His family had also previously released a video showing him at home after rumours circulated that his health had deteriorated.
The repeated rumours have therefore created an unusual situation in which official statements confirming Oburu’s wellbeing have been met with continued demands for visible proof.
Omosh’s political journey
Omosh has himself remained a prominent figure in Kenya’s political conversation.
He was previously known as a passionate supporter of Raila Odinga and ODM.
More recently, however, he has publicly expressed support for President William Ruto’s administration.
His political journey was highlighted during Ruto’s September 2026 visit to Siaya, when the President briefly interacted with Omosh in the town.
The two were seen chatting and laughing before Ruto continued with his programme.
Despite that political shift, Omosh has continued to speak loudly on issues surrounding the Odinga family and ODM.
His latest ultimatum has now added another layer to the growing debate over Oburu’s health, visibility and the future leadership of ODM.
For now, ODM maintains that Oburu is recovering and following medical advice.
Whether he will make a public appearance within the two-day period announced by Omosh remains to be seen.
