Harambee Stars players are an angry lot after being duped by celebrated musician Bahati.
A section of Harambee Stars players who recently appeared in an interview with Citizen TV have opened a can of worms after disclosing the singer failed to honour his promise to the team.
As earlier reported by Nairobi News, the Mama hitmaker had promised to gift Harambee Stars players Sh 1 million should they beat Morocco in their previous CHAN match held at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani.

In a video posted on Bahati’s Instagram, the singer and his wife all dressed in Harambee Stars jerseys stood outside their fancy mansion surrounded by luxury cars.
The two then unwrapped stacks of cash, amounting to Sh 1 million and promises to directly hand it over to Harambee Stars players if they smashed Morocco.
“We are doing something very special. We are coming to the stadium with this money. If Harambee Stars beat Morocco, we are going to be awarding them this money. Let’s do this,” Bahati said.
“Sisi tunapea players. Mkipiga hao watu na mtutolee aibu, we are giving you Sh 1 million,” he added.
Well, reports reaching this publication intimate that Bahati is yet to honour his promise despite sharing videos showing him and his wife allegedly heading to the stadium to deliver the money.
This was made public by some of Harambee Stars players who appeared on an interview with Citizen TV on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
One of the players candidly confirmed Bahati has not yet honoured his promise to the team.
The player revealed Bahati somewhat played them but confirmed they had received the millions they had earlier been promised by President William Ruto.
“Hata Bahati alipromise. Haijafika bado. Alikuwa amepromise Sh 1 million to the team tukishinda Morocco. I don’t know if he has delivered but what we’ve received ni ile pesa ya President alipromise,” he disclosed.

This comes just days after Bahati’s long time nemesis Willy Paul took to social media to call on Bahati to honour his promise to Harambee Stars players.
The Sitolia crooner, on Sunday, August 10, just moments after the Harambee Stars and Morocco CHAN match at Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani, took to Instagram and shared a video of himself asking Bahati to deliver on his promise.
“Bahati pelekea Stars wetu Sh 1 million yao. Asante,” Willy Paul wrote.
Bahati had not yet addressed the issue as at the time of filing this report.
