Officers from the National Police Service at Lolgorian Police Station have arrested a suspect and confiscated 70 litres of Chang’aa, a locally brewed illicit liquor, along with a quantity of narcotics, following a tip-off from the public.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb the circulation of illegal alcohol and drugs in Narok County.

The suspect was apprehended in Ololtingual Village and is currently in custody, awaiting processing and court arraignment.

Police say the seized items are being safely held as evidence at the station and will be used in forthcoming legal proceedings.

Speaking on the operation, the National Police Service emphasized its commitment to combating illicit alcohol and drug-related crimes, which pose serious health and social risks to communities.

The police also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities, reinforcing the collaborative effort between law enforcement and residents in maintaining public safety.

Authorities warned that the production, distribution, or consumption of illicit alcohol such as Chang’aa can have severe health consequences, including poisoning and long-term illnesses, while drug abuse continues to threaten the wellbeing of the county’s youth.
