Police break silence on Shilole’s crash, ask singer to report accident

The Tanzania Police have asked singer and businesswoman Shilole, together with the driver of the car she was travelling in, to report her recent road accident to the nearest police station.

In an official statement, police confirmed that neither Shilole nor the driver had filed a report days after the incident occurred.

According to earlier reports that circulated across the East African media, the accident happened on the night of Friday, December 2, 2025, in Malagarasi area, Uvinza District, Kigoma Region.

The vehicle Shilole was travelling in reportedly hit a cow, lost control, and rolled while she was on her way from Kigoma to Dodoma.

Shilole was rushed to hospital where she received treatment and was later discharged.

The singer later took to social media to thank God for sparing her life and to appreciate her fans for their prayers, messages, and phone calls.

She reassured them that she was in stable condition.

“Nimemwona Mungu kwa macho yangu. Baada ya ajali, nimesimama leo kwa neema yake. Sifa na utukufu ni zake milele… Asanteni sana kwa dua zenu. Hakika Mungu ni mwema sana,” she wrote.

However, shortly after her post, the Tanzania Police released a statement clarifying that the alleged accident had not been officially reported in Kigoma Region.

The police stressed that anyone involved in a road accident resulting in death, injuries, or damage to property is legally required to report the matter to the authorities.

In the statement, police explained that reporting such incidents helps facilitate medical assistance, establish the cause of the accident, and enable appropriate legal action where necessary.

They called on Shilole to visit any nearby police station to report the incident so investigations could be conducted.

The police further used the opportunity to remind all motorists and road users to strictly observe traffic rules and prioritise road safety to prevent avoidable accidents.

“Jeshi la Polisi Mkoa wa Kigoma linawatakia madereva kuendelea kufuata sheria za usalama barabarani ili kuepuka ajali zinazoweza kusababishwa na uzembe,” the statement read.

As news of the accident spread online, many netizens flooded social media with messages wishing Shilole a quick recovery.

However, a section of users posted harsh and insensitive remarks, with some claiming she deserved the ordeal.

The backlash was largely linked to Shilole’s past public support for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, a stance that previously drew criticism from both Tanzanian and Kenyan social media users who opposed celebrities campaigning for the president.
