Police in Nairobi have uncovered an illegal operation producing fake honey in Umoja 2 area of Buruburu Estate, leading to the arrest of one suspect.
According to the Nairobi Region police, the discovery was made during a sting operation conducted on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Officers seized several items believed to have been used in the manufacture of the counterfeit product.

Among the recovered items were finished containers of fake honey, chemical substances used in the production process, a heating coil, and a gas cylinder.
“The suspect is being held at Ruai Police Station pending arraignment in court. Operations targeting counterfeit food products and other illicit goods are continuing as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public health and consumer safety,” police said in a statement.
The National Police Service has urged members of the public to be cautious and to report any suspicious manufacturing or distribution activities to help curb the spread of counterfeit goods.
