Police probe murder after body of young man is found by roadside in Kirinyaga


Police in Kirinyaga East Sub-County launched investigations following the discovery of the body of a young man in what is being treated as a suspected murder case.

The incident was reported on Tuesday evening at around 8:20 p.m. in Mubure Village, Thirikwa Sub-location, Ngariama West Location.

According to police, the body of an unidentified man believed to be about 25 years old was found lying beside a road at approximately 5:50 p.m.

Police visited the scene and found the deceased lying half-naked in a supine position.

Preliminary observations revealed that the victim had sustained visible injuries on both his hands and legs, circumstances that have led investigators to treat the incident as a suspected murder.

DCI officers documented and processed the scene before the body was removed to the Kerugoya Level Five Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits identification and a post-mortem examination.

Police have commenced investigations to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances that led to his death. No arrests had been reported by the time the incident was documented. Elsewhere, police in Meru County have launched investigations into the death of a 58-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a maize plantation in the Lodwar area of Mutuati Sub-County.

According to police, a man alerted authorities after receiving a phone call from a neighbour informing him that a body had been spotted lying in a farm.

Police visited the scene and found the body of Susana Mukoiti lying on her back in a maize field.

Preliminary observations revealed blood stains around her mouth and bruises on both legs, raising suspicions of foul play.

The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was transferred to the Maua Nyambene Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have opened a suspected murder investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding her death and identify those responsible.
