Police recover 21 stolen sheep and goats in Isiolo County

Police in Isiolo County have recovered 21 stolen sheep and goats following a coordinated patrol operation in the Burat area.

Officers from Kulamawe Police Station, working alongside National Police Reservists, conducted extensive patrols across LMD, KMC, Mlango, and Leparua approximately 25 kilometres west of the station after receiving multiple reports of livestock theft in the area.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb the rising cases of livestock rustling, which has affected local pastoral communities and disrupted livelihoods.

During the patrols, officers engaged with local elders and community leaders, who assisted in tracing and recovering the 21 animals.

The recovered livestock was returned to its rightful owner, who expressed gratitude to both the police and the local community for their swift action.

Police have also launched investigations to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the theft, warning that anyone found participating in livestock rustling will face strict legal action.

Security patrols in the region have been intensified, particularly in known hotspots, to prevent future incidents.

The National Police Service commended the officers and community members for their cooperation and urged continued vigilance in reporting suspicious activities.

Authorities emphasized that community-police partnerships are key to addressing livestock theft and enhancing security in pastoral areas.
