Police recover mutilated body of unidentified man in Kisumu


Police have launched investigations after the mutilated body of an unidentified man was discovered in bushes near a molasses plant in Kisumu West Sub-county.

According to police, the body was found on Friday afternoon after a pupil at Kotetny Primary School alerted authorities to the presence of a body lying in shrubs at Kirembe Field.

Police visited the scene near the perimeter wall of the molasses plant in Otonglo sub-location.

Police said the body, believed to be that of an adult male, had severe injuries to the head, face, both hands and legs. Preliminary observations also indicated that the victim’s right ear was missing, along with some internal body organs.

Crime scene officers documented the scene before the body was moved to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.

Police have opened investigations to establish the identity of the deceased, the circumstances surrounding the killing and those responsible.

Meanwhile, a Kenya Defense Forces female soldier who sustained serious injuries after falling from a height in Kahawa died while undergoing treatment, police have confirmed.

The deceased was identified as Lillian Kabengi, a resident of KDF Kahawa Barracks.

Police said Lillian succumbed to her injuries on Thursday at around 5:45 p.m. while receiving treatment at Kahawa Barracks Hospital.

Police and the military police are investigating the incident.
