President William Samoei Ruto has expressed deep sorrow following the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo, describing him as a close friend and a towering figure in Kenya’s political and business landscape.
In a heartfelt tribute, President Ruto said he was deeply saddened by the passing of Jirongo, whom he praised as a relentless go-getter, a seasoned businessman, and a consummate politician who refused to be defined or defeated by life’s challenges.
“Cyrus was a fighter in every sense,” President Ruto said. “He was blunt yet warm, bold yet approachable, enlightened and endlessly entrepreneurial.”
The President noted that Jirongo’s generosity stood out throughout his life, describing him as “generous to a fault,” always willing to give, uplift others, and support people with his time, resources, and unwavering belief in their potential.
President Ruto further observed that Jirongo never shied away from taking tough positions or pursuing grand ideas, choosing instead to live life on his own terms.
Through his political engagements and business ventures, Jirongo left what the President termed “an indelible mark on our political landscape.”
As the nation mourns the loss, President Ruto conveyed his condolences to Jirongo’s family and friends, assuring them of his thoughts and prayers during this difficult period.
