Probe as woman’s body is found inside burnt vehicle in Kajiado


Police launched investigations after a human body was found inside a motor vehicle that was completely destroyed by fire in a private farm along the Olkeri–Matasha Road in Kajiado County.

 

The incident was reported on October 2, 2026, at about 10.30pm after members of the public alerted police.

Police who visited the scene established that a white Toyota Fielder had been completely burnt.

The vehicle is believed to have caught fire at around 7.30pm while parked about 50 metres off the Olkeri–Matasha Road inside a private farm.

A gas cylinder was also found inside the vehicle alongside the body of an unidentified female person, which had been burnt beyond recognition.

Crime Scene Investigation officers from Ongata Rongai documented the scene before the human remains were removed and taken to the Nairobi City Mortuary for preservation and further examination.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, with police investigations underway to establish how the vehicle caught fire and the identity of the deceased.

Witnesses claimed the woman had been tied in the car before it was set on fire.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing another man to death during an argument over ownership of a camel in Habaswein, Wajir County.

Police said the incident occurred on October 2, 2026, at Quli Sub-location, about 89 kilometres east of Habaswein Police Station.

According to police, a man is alleged to have fatally injured Ali Omar Dahir by stabbing him on the right side of the chest during a confrontation over ownership of a camel.

Police found the victim with a serious stab wound. He was pronounced dead, and his body was taken to the Wajir County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and further examination.

The suspect, who was also injured during the confrontation, was arrested and taken to Habaswein Police Station after receiving treatment at Quli Dispensary.

Police recovered an exhibit believed to be connected to the incident and kept it at the station for custody as investigations continue.

The circumstances surrounding the fight and the ownership dispute remain under investigation.
