Rally driver Maxine Wahome’s Mother Takes the Stand in Asad Khan’s Murder Trial

On Wednesday, Beverly Wahome, the mother of Safari Rally driver Maxine Wahome, testified in the ongoing trial concerning her daughter’s alleged murder of her former boyfriend, Asad Khan.

Maxine was apprehended on December 12, 2022, at a residence in Kilimani, Nairobi, following accusations of assault that resulted in severe injuries to Khan, who ultimately died from his wounds at a hospital in the city.

During her testimony, Beverly described a harrowing video call from her daughter, in which Maxine desperately sought assistance on the night of the incident.

Wahome’s mother, who faced intense questioning from Prosecution Counsel Roselyne Tum, recounted her firsthand experience of the tumultuous events as they transpired.

She described witnessing Khan in a state of distress, bleeding, while her daughter implored her to contact the authorities for assistance.

During her examination in chief by Tum, she detailed her observations of the situation involving her daughter, specifically noting Asad Khan’s injuries.

The court proceedings are set to continue on January 20, 2025, with further sessions scheduled for January 21, 22, and 23, as both parties prepare to present their respective cases.

Previous testimonies have indicated that Maxine and the deceased frequently experienced conflicts, leading to altercations on several occasions.
