Rob Lowe began his acting career in 1976 at age 12 years old in a Wright State University’s theater production of Sherlock Holmes. Later on, he appeared in The Three Sisters at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

Rob Lowe appeared in the sitcom A New Kind of Family in 1979. Most importantly, he got a 1983 Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the television film “Thursday’s Child”.
His success came in 1983’s adaptation “The Outsiders”. He followed with leading roles in “The Hotel New Hampshire”, “St. Elmo’s Fire” and “About Last Night…”.
