Thousands of Safaricom customers have reported receiving increased Fuliza M-PESA borrowing limits, following notifications sent out by the telecom company.
Customers received text messages informing them of their revised Fuliza limits and reminding them that they can continue making M-PESA transactions even when their account balance is insufficient, by accepting a Fuliza prompt at the end of the transaction.
“Dear X, your Fuliza M-PESA limit is KSh 800.00. Transact normally on M-PESA even with insufficient funds and accept the Fuliza request at the end of the transaction,” read part of the message shared by users.
The development has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many Kenyans sharing testimonials about their increased limits.
Several users confirmed experiencing similar adjustments, with limits rising by varying amounts.
“I am not alone who has got an increase in Fuliza limit,” commented X user Sir Charles. Another user, Psycho, said their limit had increased from Sh 300 to Sh 800.
Other customers reported different changes, with some seeing their limits grow from Sh 100 to Sh 600, others reaching as high as Sh 10,000, while some moved from Sh 500 to Sh 800.

However, not all users were affected, as several customers said they had not received any notification regarding a limit increase.
Safaricom allocates Fuliza limits upon activation to customers who have been active on the network for at least six months.
The limit is determined based on usage of Safaricom and M-PESA services, as well as repayment behavior.
To grow a Fuliza limit, customers are encouraged to consistently use M-PESA services and repay Fuliza overdrafts on time by topping up their M-PESA accounts.
Customers who have been on the Safaricom network for less than six months typically have a zero Fuliza limit.
Whenever a customer’s Fuliza limit is adjusted upwards, Safaricom usually sends a notification such as:
“Dear X Customer, your Fuliza M-PESA limit is Sh 1,000.00. Keep using M-PESA to grow your limit.”
Fuliza is available to M-PESA customers registered using a National ID, Kenyan passport, or Military ID, although not all customers are eligible for a loan limit upon activation.
Accounts registered using foreign passports are not eligible to opt in to Fuliza.
Once a customer opts in, they are assigned a limit that determines the maximum overdraft they can access.
Eligible customers often receive reminders from Safaricom encouraging them to activate the service.
To check or activate Fuliza, customers can dial *334#, select Loans and Savings, then choose Fuliza Opt-In.
