A 24-year-old private security officer was found dead at his workplace in Buspark area, Kisumu, on Sunday morning.
Baraka S. Mollel was discovered lying dead at the Naselica construction site at about 7am by his brother who had gone looking for him.
Police officers visited the scene and found Mollel lying on his back with multiple injuries to his head.
Preliminary investigations established that Mollel was working as a private security officer at the construction site.
The motive behind the attack and circumstances leading to his death had not been established by the time police began investigations.
Crime Scene Investigation officers processed the scene, while the body was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
Police have launched investigations into the murder.

Mikhael Theinya was attacked at an unknown time on Sunday in Nyabigongori village, according to police.
His brother said he received a call at about 1:30am informing him that Theinya had been attacked and rushed to Nyabigongori Nursing Home.
He rushed to the facility and found his brother with deep cuts on his head and multiple injuries to his body.
Theinya was given first aid before being referred to Mother and Child Hospital in Kehancha, where he died while undergoing treatment due to excessive bleeding.
Police officers visited the scene and found blood stains near the hospital where the deceased had initially been treated.
Officers later visited Mother and Child Hospital, where they confirmed the death and found the body with deep cuts on the head and multiple injuries.
The body was being held at the hospital pending transfer to Kehancha Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it will be preserved awaiting autopsy.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify the assailants.
