Shock And Grief In Ngomongo Village As Woman’s Body Found By Roadside


  Residents of Ngomongo village in Kanyekiine Ward, Kirinyaga Central, are reeling in shock and sorrow following the discovery of the body of a 39-year-old woman, believed to have been sexually assaulted and murdered.

The body was found early Thursday morning by a local resident on their way to a nearby shop.

“She was well known in the area. She had rented a house here in Ngomongo, and we were with her just yesterday,” said Anne Mwangi, a resident and neighbor of the deceased.

According to villagers, the woman was found naked, with visible injuries across her body, suggesting a violent attack.

“We are devastated,” said Richard Kiarie, a community member who was among the first to arrive at the scene.

Detectives from Kerugoya Police Station responded promptly and assured us that investigations had begun. We stood by helplessly as her body was moved.”

The gruesome incident has sparked growing concerns about insecurity in the area, with residents calling on authorities to take urgent action.

They are demanding the installation of streetlights, more robust night patrols, and improved safety measures to protect vulnerable residents.

Police have launched an investigation, and the body has been taken for post-mortem examination as part of ongoing efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
