Shock as man is fired for offensive costume at company’s Halloween Party

Most people world over usually take advantage of the Halloween Party to bring out the child in them by rocking stunning costumes that turn heads and leave jaws on the floor in equal measure.

For context, a Halloween party is basically a social gathering, typically held on or near October 31, and involves activities like wearing costumes, decorating with spooky themes, playing games, and sometimes trick-or-treating.

It is a secular holiday with roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Hallows’ Eve (the evening before All Saints’ Day).

With that said, an Amarillo, Texas man recently thought it wise to get creative and spooky while at it while picking his costume for his company’s Halloween Party.

The man, however, was rendered jobless after being fired by his manager for showing up to the company Halloween party dressed as a terrorist.

Nairobi News has learnt the man, identified as Anthony Bianchi contested the firing, holding that the costume was meant to be funny and harmless.

His defense did not hold water as most people who attended the party were upset and uncomfortable as soon as he checked into the party.

“This whole thing is an unfortunate misunderstanding. The whole point of the joke is that I’m a Jäger-bomber. I am not even from that part of the world, I’m an Italian guy raised in Texas. I thought the people I worked with were fun and cool, but I guess they’re far from it. Looks like I learned my lesson,” Bianchi said.

The company Bianchi worked for released a statement insisting that their business has no place for offensive or inappropriate behavior.

The company also claimed this was not Bianchi’s first run-in with HR.

The development sparked mixed reactions on social media with quite a number of netizens defending him.

Many held that Halloween Parties, are just that; Halloween and people can be given a leeway to be creative with their costumes.

They insisted that it was the whole essence of the Halloween Party.

Other, however, rallied behind Bianchi’s company, insisting that the subject’s costume was inappropriate, especially at a time terrorism is killing and hurting many economies.
