Stupefied businessman dies in his car in Kirinyaga County


Detectives are investigating an incident where a businessman was found dead in his car after he had been stupefied in Gathoge area, Kirinyaga County.

He was identified as Alfred Muriithi Muriuki, 35 who was a businessman in the area.

His body was found in his car on Sunday April 5 morning long after he had died.

The car engine was running when it was discovered along Difathas- Gituto murram road in Kanjuu sub location, Njukiini South location, Njukiini division in Kirinyaga East Sub-County.

At the scene, it was realized that motor vehicle Mazda Axela silver in colour was parked on a small feeder road with engine running and one male occupant on the driver’s seat who was sitting unconsciously inclined to the left with vomit on the left cheek, police said.

The doors were open and the man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

It was said that the vehicle was first seen parked at the said scene and an unidentified female character hurriedly alighted and left towards Difathas shopping centre.

The body was preserved in the said hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Police said they are investigating murder in the case and efforts to trace those behind the same were ongoing.

A team visited a club the man had been at for the better part of Saturday night and Sunday morning as part of efforts to trace the persons involved in the stupefying and death.

The team reviewed security footage to get more information on the women who are believed to have been dining with him before they spiked his drink.

No arrest had been made by Monday morning but police said they were pursuing good leads on the same.

Such cases of stupefying have been on the rise in some clubs in the area. Police said they had recorded a surge in the incidents and the gang behind the same came from in and around Nairobi.

In some unfortunate incidents, victims of stupefying have lost their lives after being heavily drugged, hence the need to exercise caution and always party around known friends who would have your back in case of such danger, police say.
