Suspected members of notorious robbery syndicate arrested in Kasarani

Detectives have arrested another suspected member of a ruthless robbery syndicate believed to be behind a series of violent attacks targeting wines and spirits traders across Kajiado, Kiambu and Nairobi counties.

Paul Irungu Mwangi, described by investigators as a close ally of alleged mastermind Peter Muhia Njenga, was apprehended following days of intensive investigations and intelligence-led operations.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives from its headquarters tracked the suspect to the Sonic area of Kasarani Sub-County, where he had reportedly gone into hiding after several of his associates were arrested last week.

The gang is linked to multiple incidents of robbery with violence and murder that have left traders living in fear.

Authorities say the suspect and his accomplices, some of whom remain at large, are also connected to a kidnapping ring operating within the same counties.

Investigators have vowed to dismantle the criminal network and bring all those involved to justice.
